Aileen Lovett, 88, of Catlin, died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
She was born March 6, 1925, in Clinton, Ind., to William Edward and Elizabeth Smoot Thomas.
Aileen married Elbert Orrie “Jiggs” Lovett Nov. 11, 1943, in Catlin. He passed away Jan. 23, 2012.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence (Ann) Lovett of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Robert F. Thomas of Georgetown; two sisters, Lydia Woods of Catlin and Bonnie (Charles) Mills of Fairmount; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lisa Ann Decker, Shawn Howard, Ed (Teresa) Johnson and Braxton Johnson.
She was preceded in death by one sister and her daughter, Laura Elizabeth Doggett.
Aileen took nursing classes at Washington Grade School in Danville. She worked for five years in the surgery department at Lakeview Hospital and retired from Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in 1976.
She was a member of Catlin Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for 22 years. She loved flowers and gardening and especially loved her cats.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Catlin Church of Christ, Darren Johnson to officiate. Burial in: OakRidge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Robison Chapel.
