Connie R. Brady

DANVILLE — Connie R. Brady, 79, of Danville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Colonial Manor in Danville.

Connie Ashby was born on July 2, 1934. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, John and Flossie Frazee, in South Danville. Connie graduated from Danville High School in 1952 and attended Eastern Illinois University.

On Sept. 22, 1956, she married Richard “Dick” Brady at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville. They had two sons, Tim (Kim) Brady of Catlin, and Curt (Teresa) Brady of St. Bernice, Ind.

Connie worked for the American Red Cross for 20 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the United Way, Danville YWCA and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She loved golfing, gardening, crossword puzzles, friends and family. She was a member of the Danville Boat Club, Danville Elks, Danville Jaycees (Jaynces), Tennessee Pearls, Euchre and Garden clubs.

Connie also was a member of Central Park Church of Christ in Danville. She was a sports enthusiast, watching her favorite teams — Illini and Tennessee Volunteers — play, and she was a Peyton Manning fan. Connie enjoyed traveling and lived in Portland, Ore., and Tellico Village, Tenn., but returned to Danville in 2003.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; granddaughter-in-law; and beloved in-laws.

She is survived by both of her sons and a sister, Mona (Clarence) Brown, of Danville. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Brady (Carl Arms) of Springfield, Tim (Megan) Brady of Mountain Home, Idaho, Lindsey Brady of Georgetown, Amanda Brady of Henning, Jeremiah Brady of Georgetown, Josh McBeath of Terre Haute, Ind., and Jeremy (Erica) McBeath of Lafayette, Ind. Also surviving are: niece Sue (Fred) Dokey of Danville, niece Laurie Weller of Danville, niece Mary (Carl) Krueger of Danville, nephew David Brady of Catlin, niece Cheryl (Greg) Pierce of Palm Coast, Fla., and nephew Dan (Carrie) Brown of St. Joe. She also is survived my several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, 12 great-grandchildren and several close friends.

Connie was a wonderful woman who enjoyed living life and having fun. She will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Pape Mortuary. Funeral services at Pape will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following.
