Lois Maxine Mycroft, 93, of Covington, Ind., passed away at 7:45 p.m. EST Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at The Waters of Covington.
Mrs. Mycroft was born Sept. 26, 1920, at home in rural Covington, the daughter of Theodore and Eva (Maffett) Grubb.
She married Earl G. Mycroft on March 22, 1937.
Her surviving family include four daughters, Loretta S. (Phil) Hughes of Covington, Bonnie C. Messick of Veedersburg, Ind., Nancy (Scott) Wallace of Covington, and Joyce (Arnold “Boze”) Keeling of Veedersburg; a brother, Jack (Linda) Grubb of Covington; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Jeanette) Hughes of Montgomery, Ind., Curt Hughes of Greenwood Ind., Toni (Randy) Ponder of Veedersburg, Kelly (Eric) Keeling of Danville, Ill., Robert (Lisa) Messick of Covington, Camilla (Dan) White of Trussville Ala., Rodney (Jill) Wallace of Covington, Shelley (Tom) Snelling of Sullivan Ill., and Greg (Rita) Keeling of Veedersburg; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Mycroft; a sister, Mary Jean Crain; and a son-in-law, Arnold Messick.
Lois had been employed in Covington at Norma’s Dress Shop, Sprague’s and Covington Cleaners over the years. She always enjoyed life on the farm and spent much of her time cooking and sewing. She also enjoyed the winters she and her husband were able to spend in Florida.
More than anything she loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Duane Mycroft officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Mt Hope Cemetery in Covington.
