William H. White, 87, of Danville, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at the Hawthorne Inn of Danville.
He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in East St. Louis, Ill., to William H. and Eulalia Page Higgins White.
He married Martha Josephine Grites on Aug. 24, 1948, in Danville. She survives.
Also surviving is a sister, Dorothy M. Miranda of Collinsville, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Bill served his country in the United States Army for two years. He went on to become the owner/operator of his photography studio, Art Kraft, and later was a car salesman for Win C. Smith for several years.
Bill was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree member in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the American Legion Post 210 and was an avid sports fan. Bill enjoyed bowling and basketball, and especially loved the St. Louis Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.
A funeral mass for William White will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. Father Ted Pracz will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, where military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Holy Family Catholic Church.
