Orra “Bud” Johnathon Boyd, 73, of Chrisman and formerly of Danville, passed away at 5:07 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
Graveside services for Orra will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Mike Strunga officiating.
Bud was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Danville to Orra Gordon and Maudie Marie (Hinkle) Boyd.
He attended Cannon Grade School and Danville High School. Bud worked for many years at Heat Craft, formerly Bohn Aluminum, where he retired in 2002.
Bud was a volunteer firefighter for 32 years with the Kickapoo Fire District, where he was also chief for many of those years.
He enjoyed fishing, hanging out at the fire station and he was a huge Cubs fan. He was a longtime member of Catlin Church of Christ. Above all else, Bud enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Shelbie. They never missed a Saturday morning breakfast at the Oakwood Truck Stop.
Bud married Loretta Hubbard on March 21, 1959, in Danville, and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Shannon (Marc) Reynolds; a granddaughter, Shelbie Messmore; and many friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Emma Boyd, Edna Dee, and Mary Claypool.
