MATTOON — Mary Evelyn Wilson, 91, formerly of Mattoon, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at North Logan Health Care Center, Danville.
Graveside services honoring her life will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Evelyn was born on June 22, 1922, in Mattoon, the daughter of Verne and Reba (Knapp) Dodd.
She married Alva Gene Wilson on July 13, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Survivors include her son, Mike (Millie) Wilson of Danville; daughter, Sharon Wilson of Indianapolis; sisters Judy (Phil) Carter of Mattoon, Jean Sullivan of Parma, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don Dodd and Bob Dodd; sister Katherine Walker; and her parents.
Evelyn graduated from Mattoon High School. She worked at Illinois Consolidated in Mattoon, HP Wasson’s Department Store in Anderson, Ind., and Cummins News in Danville. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to the Coles County Animal Shelter.
