Paul A. Bishop


CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Mr. Paul A. Bishop, 80, of Crawfordsville, Ind., and formerly of Waynetown, Ind., passed away at home on Friday, May 24, 2013.

He was born on July 25, 1932, in Newport, Ind., the son of Adrian and Dorothy G. Bishop.

He graduated from Newport High school and served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from January 1953 to December 1954. He retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons with 39 years of service, finishing as a hoist driver.

Paul was a member of Waynetown American Legion and attended Rock Point Church in Crawfordsville.

Paul was first Married to Ruby Murdock Bishop on Dec. 31, 1952. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2003. He then married Betty Rose Merrill on July 24, 2004. She survives in Crawfordsville.

He also is survived by a son, Jon Bishop of Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Connie (husband, Dave) Whitehead of Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren. He also was predeceased by one sister, Lois Brown.

Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 29, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, with the Revs. Brock Graham and Terry Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive guests 4-8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, May 28, at the funeral home.
