David Hallas Fritz

DANVILLE — David Hallas Fritz, age 64, of Danville, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on July 14, 2013, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center.

David was born on Aug. 22, 1948, in Beardstown to Delbert and Roberta Carlock Balsley.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Army shortly after. While serving in the U.S. Army, David also attended Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas.

After serving in the U.S. Army for 14 years, David and his wife, Chong, owned and operated a business in Clarksville, Tenn., for many years.

David is survived by his wife, Chong Kim; and his children, Dawn (Eric) Johnson, Angela LeVan and David Fritz; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Amelia, Austin, Alley, Logan, Jacob and Cody; three brothers, Wayne (Annie) Fritz, Steve (Jodie) Summers and Irvin (Diana) Summers; one sister, Becky (Jewell) Lucas; several special nieces and nephews; and family members along with many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Myra Myers.

David was a longtime member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville and loved fellowship. He liked to worship at Faith Church in Fairmount as well. He was very proud that the Gospel changed his life and loved to witness to others.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, cooking, riding his Harley, entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He belonged to the American Legion Post 210, Illinois Patriot Guard and Patriot Guard Riders. He was known for his superb culinary skills, his huge heart and generosity.

A service to celebrate the life of David Fritz will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Pape Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Drew Mentzer of Second Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at 11 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at Pape Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pape Funeral Home, located at 10 E. Williams St., Danville.
