Nancy Alice Hawkins, 71, of Tilton, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with Pastor Daniel Melton officiating. Visitation: 3-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pape’s. Burial: Friends Cemetery at Bentown, east of Bloomington.
Nancy was born Jan. 14, 1942, in Bloomington to Cleveland and Nona Frances Baize Daugherty.
She attended Bloomington grade and high schools. After school she worked at the Illinois Soldier’s and Sailor’s Children’s School and later as a shipping and receiving clerk at Target. Nancy was a member and leader of Girl Scout troops 300 and 416 for over 20 years.
She enjoyed shopping, listening to music and watching her grandchildren at their concerts and sporting events.
Nancy married Donald Levi Hawkins on May 3, 1957, in Corinth, Miss., and he preceded her on April 25, 2013.
Survivors include: three daughters, Theresa Hawkins, Stephanie (Randy) High and Melissa Hawkins; three granddaughters, Cayti Marissa Jones, Sarah Rose High and Rany Allena High; three sisters, Floy Margaret Swearingten, Cecile Mildred Wagner and Geraldine Mae Hawkins; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Alred and Mildred Lowe; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond (Carol) Hawkins and James (Betty) Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Hubert Daughtery; and two half-sisters, Eva and Oneida Daughtery.
