She was born Nov. 3, 1942, in Danville, the daughter of Albert and Peg Rusk Lyons.
She married Gerald Lee Reese on April 21, 1959, in Danville. He has since preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Lee Reese Jr.; her daughters, Terrie Eldridge, Sherrie (Steve) Griffith and Dawn (Roger) Moore; her sister, Sue Carol (Bobby Ray) Davis; her brother, George “Butch” Vanhorn; her 13 grandchildren; her 34 great-grandchildren; and her nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Jerald “Johnny” Lyons.
Lea Tinder, known by all as “Grandma Lea,” was an amazing individual. Lea was a very generous person; in her eyes, nothing was more important to have if it was better served with someone else. Lea was an avid quilter and she loved to crochet. She was a very crafty lady.
She also enjoyed sitting back and reading a book. Lea loved spending time in the kitchen with her grandchildren where they would bake together; only rule about baking with Grandma Lea is that it has to be sweet. Above all else, Lea loved her family; she will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
A memorial service celebrating Lea’s life will begin at 6 p.m. Friday April 18, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. A visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday April 18, at the funeral home.
