CHARLESTON – Marjorie J. Cole, age 84, of Charleston, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, while at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
The funeral service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Mike Southards officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday morning for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.
It is requested that in lieu of food and flowers, thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Charleston Food Pantry. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Marjorie was born on May 14, 1929, in Coles County to the late Robert and Olive Cole.
She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Buchanan and husband, Ed, Gladys Nichols and Judith Cole; her brothers, Richard, William, Kenneth, Fred and Larry Cole; a beloved aunt and uncle, Gladys Lafferty and Robert Woodyard; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Bailey; and brothers, Ronald, James, Ralph and Harold (Butch) Cole.
Marjorie spent 30 years living in Danville and working at Anchor Hocking before retiring and returning to Charleston.
