Alvin Dean “Kirky” Kuykendall, 69, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Presence USMC.
He was born Jan. 23, 1944, in Danville, a son of Henry and Viola Hansen Kuykendall.
He married Phyllis Gash on Sept. 5, 1981, in Georgetown. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Kuykendall and Earl Kuykendall both of Georgetown; five step-children, Gene (Gennean) Wright in California, Lori Duprey and Kim (Dale) Dukes, both of Danville, Tammy (Todd) Malkus of Ridge Farm and Rhonda (Matt) Alexion of South Carolina; a brother, Marlin (Sally) Rossiter of Dudley, Ill.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special lifetime friends and kitty cat, Smokey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kuykendall; his parents; a sister, Darlene Long; and half-brother, Clarus “Corky” (Norma) Kuykendall, and half-sister, Deloris (Dennis) Peterson, both of Iowa.
Alvin was a carpenter and enjoyed spending time boating, fishing and evening drives through Forest Glen with his wife; being with friends at Georgetown American Legion; and spending time with his family.
A memorial gathering will be 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Georgetown American Legion, 106 West Street Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife.
