Stuart Gregg, 84, of Danville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born on March 6, 1929, in Aurora, the son of Howard and Cora (Evans) Gregg.
He married Nancy Piser on June 23, 1953, in Chicago. Nancy preceded Stuart in death in 2005.
Surviving him are three sons, Daniel (Lori) Gregg of Antioch, Steven Gregg of Indianapolis, and Brian Gregg of Mareno Valley, Calif.; two daughters, Deborah (Jim) Poppe of Hoopeston and Ruth (John) VanDuzer of Carey; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one half-sister; one grandson, Daniel Gregg; and one great-granddaughter, Heather Reilly.
He was a factory worker for most of his life, working as a machine operator. Stuart was in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War from 1950-1953, where he received two Purple Hearts. He enjoyed going fishing and reading.
A celebration of Stuart’s life will be held at a later date. His wishes were to be cremated and placed in Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake next to his wife. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
