OAKWOOD — Barbara J. Lourance, 78, of Oakwood, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at her home.
Barbara was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Danville to Joseph and Lucille Hughes Kist.
She married John Lourance on Sept. 24, 1955, in Catlin. He preceded her in death June 16, 2012.
Survivors include one son, Mark A. Lourance of Oakwood; one brother, Joseph (Judy) Kist of Danville; one sister, Carolyn Sue (Paul) Wagner of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Megan Mariah Middleton, Fort Myers, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, June Rose Kist; two brothers, Jackie Wayne Kist and Kenneth Kist; one daughter, Gayle Ann Barnes; and one niece, Suzie Kist Harper.
Barbara worked for a time at the jacket factory in Danville. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, mushroom hunting and her favorite pastime was listening to bluegrass and country music. She loved to get up and sing, played the piano and guitar, enjoyed nature walks and spending time with friends and family.
Graveside rites were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville. Charlie Strange officiated.
