ATTICA, Ind. — Scott Russell Brown, 85, Attica, passed away at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.
Scott was born in McKendree Township, near Georgetown, Ill., on June 9, 1928. He was the son of the late Russell James and Alda (Scott) Brown.
Scott was raised in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School in 1946. He attended Evanston Collegiate Institute. Scott formerly worked in East Chicago for 25 years at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Steel Company, later called LTV.
Scott’s hobbies included working on computers and studying genealogy. He also enjoyed square dancing and round dancing.
On June 27, 1949, Scott married Etsutko Matsuo in Chicago. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1972. Scott later married Linda L. (Alward) Short on April 17, 1994 in Attica. She survives.
Scott leaves behind his wife, Linda of Attica; three sons, Scott Richard (Drena) Brown, North Augusta, S.C., Clifford (Sue) Brown, Lowell, and Terry Brown of San Francisco, Calif.; a step-daughter, Lori (Brent) Miller of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Arlene (Dean) Rusmisel of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Dee Dee (Scott) Griggs, Amy Nichole (Kevin) Thompson, Kylie and Hayden Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Maddie Lynn Griggs and Scotty Griggs, and Trista Lynn Thompson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Brown.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Services will begin at 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
