VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Ruth Ann Gibbs, 68, of Veedersburg, Ind., and formerly of Morocco, Ind., passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Ruth had lived in Veedersburg since 2003. She previously lived in Covington, Ind., for 30 years and was raised in the Rensselaer and Morocco, Ind., area.
Ruth was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Lake Village, Ind., the daughter of the late Lester and Pearl Coley Brownfield.
She attended both the Rensselaer and Morocco schools. For 18 years Ruth worked at Chuckles Candy Factory in Danville. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Attica, Ind.
On Nov. 25, 1961, in Watseka, Ruth married William Freddie Gibbs, who passed away on Aug. 20, 2012.
Ruth is survived by three sons, William Glenn Gibbs of Veedersburg, James Carter Gibbs of Monticello, and Richard Allen (Jenny) Gibbs of Veedersburg; seven grandchildren, Becky, Caleb, Jenna, Jaron, Ashley, Haley and Sierra; two great-grandchildren, Javeyn and Javeylle; two brothers, James Brownfield of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth (Connie) Brownfield of Brook, Ind.; and three sisters, Joyce (Frank) Fleck of Veedersburg, Shirley (DeWayne) Krout of Covington, and Linda (Fritz) Zarse of Palm Bay, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Richard Lee Brownfield.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer, Ind. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer, with Pastor William Nickle officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer.
