Esther Deloras Rouse-Avery passed this life Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at her residence in St. Louis, Mo.
Esther was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Harrisburg, Ill., to the late Paul V. Rouse Sr. and Anna M. Hopkins Rouse.
Esther attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, Schlarman High School and graduated from Danville High School, Class of 1960.
She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Joliet for several years before moving to St. Louis. Esther retired from Shriners’ Hospital for Children where she was the dietary manager.
Esther was formerly married to Dennis Avery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; both parents, Paul Sr. and Anna Rouse; and her sister, Marietta Rouse Austin.
Esther leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Paul, Jr. (Lillian) of Belvidere, Ill., Robert Sr. (Mary Ann) of Danville, and Larry (Patricia) of Charleston, S.C.; seven sisters, Carol (Allen) Dixon, Lucy Dumas, Jane (Carey) Grant, Jean Rouse, all of Danville, Anna (Brian) Kennel of South Bend, Ind., Nancy (Chauncey) Akers of Shorewood, Minn., and Cynthia Rouse of Rantoul; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
As per her wishes, Esther was cremated. A memorial service will commence at noon Saturday, Sept. 28, at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ, 102 Indiana Ave., Danville. Officiating: Rev. Paul V. Rouse Sr. Friends and family may assemble at 191 Thornhill Dr. after the service, if they so desire.
