Dorothy Edinger, 83, of Danville, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Sept. 19, 2013, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
She was born on Jan. 18, 1930, in Mackinaw, the daughter of Curtis and Bessie (Marrow) Robinson.
She married Norman Edinger on April 27, 1968, in Wysox, Pa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2012.
Surviving her are two sons, John (Wendi) Maquire of Lafayette, La., Gary (Monica) Edinger of Danville; two daughters, Linda Gritten and Margaret (Dave) Garland, both of Danville; five sisters, Alta Powell of Montana, Betty (Don) Duffy of St. Petersburg, Fla., Barbara Zumwalt of Urbana, Shirley Reffett of Danville and Ann Link of Alvin; two special sisters-in-law, Barbara Robinson and Mary Roberts; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy also had many special friends, Therisa Kalichera, Carl Powell, Mary Reffett, Cindy Phillips, Laverne Bartlow, Betty Lane, Harold Walters and special neighbors, Rory (Julie) Lester and Mort (Pam) Young.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Mary (Gordon) Stewart; two brothers, James Hobbs and Richard Robinson; two sisters, Hazel Proctor and Lucille Hobbs; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
She went to Danville schools and worked for many years at Meis Brothers Department Store. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Her dog, Penny, will miss her greatly.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. A visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
