---- — HOOPESTON — Ruth Alma Bushong, 97, of Hoopeston, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Senior Living in Hoopeston.

She was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Elmer J. and Emma (Finley) Clouse.

She married William Leslie Bushong on June 27, 1944, at Camp Hulen, Texas. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois M. (Norman) Butzow of Milford and Nancy J. Bushong of Hoopeston; one son, James L. (Donna) Bushong of Lafayette, Ind.; one sister, Edith (Bernie) Carlson Deany of Hoopeston; one sister-in-law, Anna Clouse of Hoopeston; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Inez and Alice; and three brothers, Earl, Ray and Walter.

Mrs. Bushong was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hoopeston. Ruth enjoyed gardening and baking, especially angel food cakes and chocolate chip cookies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at First Presbyterian Church, 915 E. Orange St., Hoopeston, with the Rev. Wade Meranda officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
