Larry Green, 77, of Metropolis, formerly of Danville, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at his residence.
Larry was born in Metropolis on July 11, 1936, but spent more than 20 years in Danville.
He married Eilene Bailey on Aug. 31, 1957.
Mr. Green was a member of Local 782 Iron Workers and Lighthouse Assembly of God. He had a love for antique cars, hunting and spending time with his family and church.
Larry is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Eilene Green; children, Marsha Rae (Roy) Ford of Attica, Ind., and David Linn (Connie) Green of Tilton; grandchildren, Mindy Wallace of Brookport, and Forrest Green and Stephanie Green, both of Danville; great-grandchildren, Brayden Higgins of Danville and Raylan Wallace and Kolly Wallace of Brookport; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Jesse) Goines of Metropolis; one brother, Melvin (Marcia) Green of Metropolis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Ruth (Barton) Green; a daughter, Kimberly Green; two brothers, Bill and Bob Green; and one sister, Iris Green.
Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis. Pastor Don LaBrot will officiate. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery in Pope County.Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday at the Lighthouse Assembly of God.
