---- — Winifred “Eileen” Thornton, 91, of Danville, departed from this world to the loving arms of the Lord Jesus, her Lord and Savior, at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Garden View Manor.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Eileen was born on Sept. 8, 1922, in Sidney to Paul and Garnet (Hayworth) Sanks. She attended Homer schools, and later married William “Whitey” Thornton on July 31, 1942, at the home of the Rev. Blyte. She was a wonderful homemaker.
Eileen was a baptized member into the body of Jesus Christ, the true church. She was a born-again Christian. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Danville.
Eileen leaves behind her husband, William; a son, Roger “Bruce” Thornton; a granddaughter, Bonnie (Kirt) Johnson; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Black and Lois McFadden; and a close friend, Anna Marie Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and many other friends throughout the years.
