---- — Bill J. Weller, 83, of Danville, passed away at 7 a.m. Nov. 15, 2013, at Hawthorne Inn of Danville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 210.
Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to an organization of the donor’s choice.
Bill was born on June 11, 1930, in Frederick, Okla., to Harold and Leona (Goldman) Weller. He attended Bismarck schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1947. After his tour of duty, Bill returned to Danville and began his career in the automotive industry.
Bill began working at Noble Ford in the early ‘50s, which later became Courtesy Ford. In 1988, he joined Mervis Industries, and worked there until his retirement in 2001. Bill loved to fish, travel, was a committed Bears Fan, and enjoyed being outside. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a longtime member of Olive Branch Lodge 38.
Bill married the love of his life, Dorothy Gouty, on Oct. 19, 1958, at Union Corner Church. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2000. Bill was never happier than when she was around, and was never quite the same after she departed.
He is survived by his two daughters, Stefanie (Dan) Long and Stacey (Matt) Long; Stefanie and Dan’s two children, Sydney and Nicholas Long; three brothers, Jack (Wanda) Weller, Richard (Nadeane) Weller and Ken (Janet) Weller; two sisters, Karen Drennan and Sheila (Wes) Biertz; a sister-in-law, Reva (Clarence) Turner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Dorothy; a brother, Harold “Junior” Weller; and a sister-in-law, Betty Weller.
