VAN ALSTYNE, Texas — Gordon Eugene (Gene) Maines, age 64, of Van Alstyne, Texas, formerly of Danville, passed into the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 13, 2014.
He was born Dec. 10, 1949, in Danville to Margery and Gordon Maines.
He graduated from Danville High School, Danville, in 1967. He worked for the city of Plano as the night shift supervisor of fleet services.
He is survived by two sons, Tony (Renee) Maines of Florida and Eric Maines of Van Alstyne, Texas; stepbrothers, Charles and Gordon Everett Maines of Florida; stepsister, Cynthia Fussle of Florida; grandson, David Maines; sisters, Teresa (Joseph) York of Wylie, Texas, and Annette Walker of Antler, Okla.; brothers, Kenneth (Charlene) Ping of Tom Bean, Texas, David (Dorne) Ping of Marble Falls, Texas, David (Jani) Downey of Sherman, Texas, Harold (Robin) Downey of South Carolina, Matthew Downey of Carrollton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Maines and Margery Downey; half sister, Christina (Skeeter) Flowers; nephew. Robert Ping.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 17. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas, with the Rev. Chris Galloway officiating.
