Phyllis A. McElhoe, 77, of Potomac, passed away at 3:09 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born Feb. 6, 1937, the daughter of John and Gladys (Frost) Oliphant.
She married Ronald McElhoe on July 20, 1955, in Shelbina, Mo.
She is survived by Ron, her husband of 58 years, and her children, Cecil McElhoe, Teri (Jim) Brooks, Jeff (Jan) McElhoe, Doug (Anna) McElhoe and Rhonda (Tim) Miller; nine grandchildren, Justin (Amanda), Ryan, Joe (Jessie), Ben, Josh, Jason (Marci), Matt (Kayla), Jacob and Brad; and six great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Kyleigh, Kodi, Beau, Ellie Jo, Sawyer and Wesley. She also is survived by two brothers, Ronald and William Oliphant, and a half-brother, Gene Lightner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; half-sister, Jackie Sue; and two half-brothers, Glen Dale and Tom Oliphant.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She also enjoyed watching the Illini, NASCAR and professional golf.
A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. There will be no visitation per Phyllis’ wishes. Burial will follow in Collison Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Potomac Church of the Nazarene. The family has entrusted the Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac to assist them in honoring Phyllis’ life.
