Trinidad 'Trini' Garnica

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Trinidad “Trini” Garnica, 70, went home to heaven peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Garceno, Texas, to the late Juanita and Locadio Flores.

She married Medardo Garnica Sr. on Jan. 16, 1960, in Edinburg, Texas.

Trini lived in Danville as well as in Texas and in Carbondale.

She graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Danville and earned her certificate of graduation from “Fe Agrada A Dios” School of Ministry in May 1994.

She went on many mission trips with Morning Star Ministries, helping with serving food and passing out clothing and just loving those who needed love.

Trini also worked with The Door, a ministry in Carbondale. She loved ministering on the streets with outreaches. She enjoyed serving and feeding the pastors and their families when they would visit the church.

She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing bingo, dominos, laughing and being around her family. Trini was one of four children: sisters, Tomasa (Jack) Alexander, Mary Lou (Lencho) Lara, brother, Mancio Flores, and is preceded in death by her later brother, George Flores.

She will be forever remembered by her husband, Medardo Garnica Sr.; her beloved children, Medardo (Erica) Garnica Jr., Maria (Ismael) Flores, Lucy (Jose) Nunez, Emma (Adam) Brown, Dora (Barry) Bayles, Ricardo (Shelly) Garnica and Rebecca (Anthony) Burns; treasured by 36 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know her.

Trini didn’t know a stranger. She welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a loving, caring and compassionate woman who loved the Lord. She embraced everyone she met and touched the lives of so many people with her smile and generosity. She enjoyed reading her Bible and never said goodbye without saying “God Bless You.”

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at The Rock Church on Poland Road, Danville, Ill. Pastor Doug Hummer will be officiating.
