Donna L. Rouse

TILTON — Donna L. Rouse, 64, of Tilton, passed this life at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.

Donna was born on Dec. 5, 1948, in Danville, the daughter of Lewis W. Strawser and Mildred J. (Cook) Strawser.

She was united in marriage to David H. Rouse on June 5, 1965, in Oakwood. David preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2010.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori Ann Rouse (Bob Hubbard) of Oakwood and Christina Sue (Brad) Trankina of Fithian; three granddaughters, Kaley (Greg) Wright, Courtney (Spc. Cody) Frahm and Lauren Trankina; five siblings, Mary (Kenneth) Reiden, Kathleen (Alan) Roy, Ronald (Mary) Strawser, Susan Steinsdoerfer and Wayne L. Strawser; a sister-in-law, Lucy (Henry) Setser; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; two sisters-in-law, Freida Smiley and Rita Curry; two nieces, Tamera Steinsdoerfer Knutti, Holly J. Robbins; and two nephews, Scott D. Smiley and Joel A. Miller.

Donna attended Douglas Grade School and Danville High School. She worked at Olin Corporation in Covington, Ind.

Donna was a bowler, and she enjoyed playing bingo and slot machines over the years. She was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose.

She loved spending time with her girls, teaching them her tricks in the kitchen. There were many special family gatherings, and her last will never be forgotten.

Donna will be deeply missed by her daughters, granddaughters, siblings, her special friends, Clem Allison and Georgia Hawker, and her dog, Scamper.

A celebration of Donna’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Pape Funeral Home, Danville. Pastor Kim Dancey will officiate. A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.

Memorials may be made in her name to Vermilion County Fairgrounds, 17528 N. 1180 East Road, Oakwood, IL 61858.
