John Dean Halcomb

FISHER — John Dean Halcomb, 81, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Champaign County Nursing Home.

He was born June 7, 1932, to Hubert and Valla Parker Halcomb in DeLand.

He married Eunice Heckerson on Sept. 22, 1951, in Danville.

John was a graduate of Armstrong High School, Class of 1950. He started his farming career in 1953 in Armstrong and later moved to the Mahomet area. He retired there in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Barbara McKinzie.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Sunset Funeral Homes, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Sunset Funeral Homes, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, with Dave Ashby and Michael Halcomb officiating. Cremation rights will be accorded following ceremonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America for Alzheimer’s Research or to River Valley Christian Church. Please join John’s family in sharing memoires of his life through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
