Ralph Douglas “Doug” McNeil

MARSHFIELD, Mo. — Ralph Douglas “Doug” McNeil, 51, passed away peacefully March 11, 2013, at home in Marshfield, Mo.

Doug was a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a strategic aircraft maintenance technician stationed at multiple bases, including service in Operation Desert Shield/

Storm/Calm until June 1992. He attained the grade of staff sergeant and was the recipient of multiple medals.

He was a graduate of Danville, Ill., High School.

Doug became a long haul, over-the-road truck driver, working for several companies. His early retirement was due to disability.

Doug was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Chicago Cubs and Bears, NASCAR and motocross racing. Doug was an animal lover and found great joy in his dog, Precious.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. McNeil, on April 17, 1996.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara McNeil of Marshfield, Mo.; sisters, Elizabeth Anne Littel of Naperville, Ill., and Katherine Lee Homan of Riverside Calif.; his children, Daniel Patrick McNeil of Florida and Christina Marie McNeil, Stephanie Ann McNeil and Anthony Douglas McNeil, all of North Carolina; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by multiple aunts and uncles.

Burial with military rites will begin at 1 p.m. April 19, in Mautz Cemetery, Dollville, near Pana, Ill., with Pastor Knapp officiating.
