Robert B. Haas Sr., 88, of Danville, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on June 28, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Johnson Bruce and Clara Margaret Johnson Haas.
He was married to Betty A. Dudley on Nov. 12, 1950, in Danville. She survives.
He also is survived by his son, Robert (Vickie) Haas Jr.; his daughter, Linda (Raymond) Brandon; his grandchildren, Christopher Haas, Lara Haas, Stephanie (David) Ginder, Natalie (Lance) Haas-Viner and John Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Rogers, Madisyn Rogers, Chloe Ginder, Jake Ginder, Abigail Vannoy, Mahyla Viner, Dalton Simmers, Aiden Brennan; niece and nephew, Alice (Bob) Brightsman, Ron (Diana) Dudley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, June Pate; and his grandson Jeremy Simmers.
Robert loved to go fishing, especially in Oklahoma and Minnesota, with his wife, family and friends. Robert also was a lifelong member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville, where he was a longtime elder.
A celebration of Robert’s life will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at Sunset Funeral Home, with Drew Mentzer officiating. A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville.
