Lawrence Lee “Chuck” Goodhue Sr., of Potomac, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
Lawrence was born Sept. 18, 1942, in Horse Cave, Ky., to Rollin Goodhue and Mary Spencer.
He married Carolyn Jean Henry in Paris on March 12, 1961. Together they have five children.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; their children, Rollin (Mary Martin) Goodhue of Potomac, Lawrence (Judy Billman) Goodhue Jr. of Danville, Brenda (Eddie) John of Fithian, David (Teresa) Goodhue of Edwardsville and Clarenda (Bernie) McCarty of Potomac; a sister, Margaret (Lambert) Steele; a brother-in-law, Leonard (Linda) Henry; two sisters-in-law, Beverlyn Dengler and Kathryn (Cecil) Potter; a special aunt, Margie Crain; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Lawrence was a farmer for 51 years, where he farmed alongside his special friends Harold and Roger Long. He loved Harold and Lois Long’s children, Sue, Roger and Lori, like his own. They were his family, too.
Lawrence enjoyed fishing, hunting, being on the tractor, playing baseball with his boys and talking about his favorite team, the New York Yankees. His grandchildren brought him great joy, and he loved to hear their voices playing when he was ill.
A celebration of Lawrence’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Burial will follow the service in Embury Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to the Synergy Baseball Program, his grandson’s baseball team. The Goodhue family has entrusted Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home of Potomac to assist them and to honor Lawrence’s life.
Condolences may be sent to his family at: www.wolfeblurtonfuneralhome.com.
