Bernice Andruski, 96, of Indianola, entered the gates of heaven joining her parents, brothers and sisters and her Lord and Savior at 6:53 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
She was born July 3, 1916, in Indianola, the daughter of James and Goldia Sandlin Hoskins.
She married Edward Andruski in April of 1933 in Danville. He preceded her in 1976.
Those who will miss her are her daughter, Joleen Sedlacek, of Indianola; three sisters, Betty Ramsey of Georgetown, Deloris Luster of Danville, and Teresa Cummings of Danville; two brothers, James (Lois) Hoskins Jr. of Indianola, Ron (Terri) Hoskins of Georgetown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her special companion, Donny McCool, of Indianola.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Bernice was a homemaker and loved gardening and canning, working on her home, vacationing in Piedmont, Mo., in her little log cabin in the woods. She was still chopping wood at 80 years old.
Bernice was a member of the former Indianola Baptist Church. During World War II she worked in an aircraft factory, building bombers in California.
A celebration of life service for Bernice will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola.
