CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Ernestine Chrisman, 84, passed away Saturday morning at Bickford Cottage in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Born Nov. 7, 1928, in Hoopeston, she was the daughter of C. Ernest and Mildred Cornell Hutson.
She graduated from Potomac High School in Potomac in 1946. She had been a doctor’s nurse, a practical nurse and a ward clerk. She later was a dog groomer.
Ernestine was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church in Crawfordsville, Ind., where she enjoyed women’s Bible study on Wednesday mornings until her health prevented her from attending. She also enjoyed crocheting, completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, tending to her parakeet and had painted a Christmas village that she loved to display.
She married Curtis L. Chrisman on Aug. 6, 1964, at the Old Union Church of Christ in Danville. He passed away in 2009.
Surviving family members include her son, Mark (Melinda) Garfield of Oakwood; daughter, Brenda Bogart of Crawfordsville, Ind.; stepchildren, Dee Church and Robert Chrisman of Opp, Ala.; brother, Richard (Anna) Hutson of Danville; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant brother Leland.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 6, at First Church of Christ in Covington, Ind., with pastors Bill Cook and Steve Wilke officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. EST Wednesday at the church.
