TILTON — Donna Sue Dodd, 65, of Tilton, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at home.
She was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in Danville, a daughter of Donald P. and Alma L. Lewis Dodd. She is survived by a sister, Linda Lou (David) Landers; a nephew, Joshua (Sue Ellen) Landers; and a niece, Elizabeth Landers, all of La Miranda, Calif.; good friends, Judy Scott of Westfield, Ind., and Judy Laker of Oakwood; fellow cat lover, Sally Miller of Danville; and her beloved cats, Fred, Junior, Ricky Dale and Precious. She was preceded in death by her partner of 22 years, Bob Meeks; and a nephew, Matthew Landers.
Donna was a 1966 graduate of Danville High School, attended Danville Area Community College and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1969 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She taught for 35 years at Judith Giacoma Elementary School in Westville.
She was a member of the Illinois Education Association, National Education Association and Westville Education Association serving as president for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, walking and her cats.
According to her wishes, Donna will continue teaching by donating her body to science.
