Yvonne Lynne Woods

Yvonne Lynne Woods, 52, of Danville, passed this life at 6:08 p.m. Dec. 31, 2013, at her residence.

Yvonne was born April 10, 1961, in Danville to Alexander E. and Mary A. “Mae” Roach Woods.

Yvonne had a wonderful personality and a contagious smile. Her presence was able to light up a room.

Yvonne accepted Christ at any early age. She was currently a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Frank McCullough. Yvonne enjoyed listening to music, cooking and dancing.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her loving memory her mother, Mae Woods; lifelong partner, Robert L. Butler Sr.; her children, Asia N. Butler Miles, Kisha N. Butler, Robert L. Butler Jr., Janelle D. Woods and Claude A. Butler; grandchildren, Janasia K. Butler, Freddie R. Smith Jr., Clayvon D. Smith, Aniya A. Miles, Raymond N. Miles Jr., Rashad D. Miles, R’Tarius Johnson, RaBreona Wright, PaShance Butler, Chance Butler, LeAnn Butler, Danjya A. Butler and Claude A. Butler Jr.

Also surviving are her siblings, Betty Jackson, Irene Williams, Mary (Cedric) Jones, Jeanetta (Michael) Smith, Clarentta Dix and Debra Hyde.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her father; and four siblings, Roger Woods, Clayvern Woods, Vernon Porter and Christine Irvy.

A celebration of life will commence at noon Friday, Jan. 10, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. A visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: the Rev. Frank McCullough. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Jan. 9 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville.
