OAKWOOD — Thomas M. DeVore, 76, of Oakwood, longtime area electrician and owner of DeVore Electric, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in the emergency room at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Thomas was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Danville to Carl and Sylvia Wilcox DeVore.
He married Juanita Foster June 21, 1958, in Danville. She survives, as well as one son, Tim (Tracy) DeVore of Tilton; one daughter, Cheryl (Carla Smith) Girton of Oakwood; one brother, Larry (Becky) DeVore; one sister-in-law, Annetta DeVore; and one granddaughter, Piper Jones.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Tom was a self-employed electrician for 35 years. He handled all of the grain companies for many years. He was a “Master of Everything.” There was nothing he couldn’t do. He was a quiet man who stood tall in character with a sense of humor that made all who knew him well smile.
He is missed by so many already: his family, friends, co-workers and customers. He was an amazing husband, father and brother. … Build your staircase in heaven; we will meet there someday.
