---- — MONEE – Lester W. Maire, age 86, born Aug. 26, 1927, passed away peacefully Dec. 26, 2013, at St. James Manor in Crete from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma (nee Packard) Maire; three daughters, Kathi (Ron) Demack, Teresa (Ray) Hotter, Jayne (late Richard) Pace; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff) Darche, Kevin (Barb) Hotter, Andrea (Jeff) Biscupski, L’Erin (Marc) Machroli; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Doody, Nathan and Tim Darche, Chase and Zackary Hotter, Evan Machroli, Gavin and Tessa Biscupski; and two siblings, Loretta (Tom) Gulick, Danville, and Tom Maire, of Hoopeston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester W. Maire and Faye (Leconte) Maire; and son-in-law, Richard Pace; and sister-in-law, Betty Maire.
He was a World War II veteran. He worked at and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service. He also was a square dance caller for 25 years. He loved music and woodworking.
Per his request, there was no visitation or services. He is at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee.
