HOOPESTON — Joan Helen Lindsey, 74, of Hoopeston, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Heritage Health.
Joan was born on June 1, 1939, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Adolphus and Helen (Sanders-Baker) Lindsey.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Gary) Fink, Josie (Bill Seiters) Lindsey and Janet (William) Bogard, all of Hoopeston; one son, Jerry (Carlene VanVickle) Lindsey, of Hoopeston; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; half-brother, Sterling “Butch” Baker of Paris; half-sister, Melvina (Wayne) Clayburn of Paris; sister-in-law, Pam Lindsey of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert, David, Charles and Frank Lindsey; two sisters, Millie Mayberry and Virgie Peterson; great-grandson, Breyden Eades; and her stepfather, Sterling Baker.
Joan worked at TRW, Stokley-VanCamp and later worked at L&M Pallet. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Danville. Joan enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, collecting angels, helping others and spending time with her grandchildren.
A celebration of the life of Joan Helen Lindsey will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. According to her wishes, cremation rites will take place following the services.
