Katherine Louise Powell of Bloomington died on her 63rd birthday on Aug. 16, 2013.
Services will begin at noon Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, IL 61832, with the Rev. Kent Pitcher officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center (407 E. Vernon Ave., Normal, IL 61761), the McLean County Nursing Home (901 N. Main St., Normal, IL), or the family.
Kathy was born Aug. 16, 1950 in Danville to Kelly Ray and Lula May Crippin Powell. She attended Lynch Grade School, East Park Junior High, and graduated from Danville High School in 1968. Kathy worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the physical therapy department and Meis Brothers. She was a longtime employee of Target, and the manager of Tuesday Morning in Bloomington.
For many years, Kathy was active in the Illiana Civil War Historical Society. She also helped organize the Henderson-Crippin family reunion for several years. Kathy loved reading along with doing word, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles.
Katherine had 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her mother, Lula Powell; siblings, Raymond (Phyllis) Powell, Emily (Eugene) Bencomo, Carol (Kyle) Looper, Kalley (Nancy) Powell, Chester (Cheri) Powell, Steven (Kelly) Powell, Mark Powell, Kevin Powell, Paul (Brittany) Powell; sisters-in-law, Sheila Powell and Elizabeth Powell; an uncle, Tom Crippin; an aunt, Alice Powell; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Ellen Farrell.
She was preceded by her father, Kelly Powell, and brothers, Darrel Powell and Brian Powell.
