---- — Margery Anne Downey, 91, of Van Alstyne, Texas, formerly of Danville, passed into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at the Meadowbrook Care Center.

She was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Butterfield, Minn., to Roy and Mildred (Sullivan) Cunningham. She married William Downey in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1996. She attended schools in Danville and graduated from the Danville School of Practical Nursing in 1966. She worked in the nursing field for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Joseph) York of Wylie, Texas, and Annette Walker; six sons, Kenneth (Charlene) Ping of Tom Bean, Texas, David (Dorne) Ping of Marble Falls, Texas, Gene Maines of Van Alstyne, Texas, David (Jani) Downey of Sherman, Texas, Harold (Robyn) Downey of South Carolina, and Matthew Downey of Dallas, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Richard) Wynn of Danville; and brother, Donald (Esther) Cunningham of Danville. She and her husband also had 36 foster children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mildred Cunningham; brothers, Dean Cunningham and Brad Cunningham; and grandson, Robert Ping.

Funeral services were on Dec. 28, at the Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. Burial followed in Akers Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. You may sign the online guestbook at www.scogginsfuneralhome.com.
