Robert Lee Sigmon, 73, of Danville, passed away at 8:23 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville, with the Rev. Jan Reeder officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, at Pape’s. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Robert was born on Aug. 26, 1940, in Danville to David and Bessie (Burton) Sigmon. He attended Jamaica High School, graduating in 1958, and going on to farm with his father for quite a few years. He later worked at Equifax as an insurance investigator and retired from Iroquois Federal as a loan officer in 2006.
Robert enjoyed genealogy and working in his yard. Robert and his wife, Margie, enjoyed walking at the mall and have walked almost every day at the Village Mall since 1989. He was a current member of Farmer’s Chapel.
Robert married Margie Story on Jan. 28, 1961, and the two have shared nearly 53 years together.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; his children, Steven (Darla) Sigmon, Leah (Mark) Denhart and Leslie Hibbs; four grandchildren, Cameron Hibbs, Evan Hibbs, Jacob Sigmon and Sarah Sigmon; a brother, Preston Sigmon; and four sisters, Delores (Dave) White, Polly (Hank) Ruff, Dotty Smoot and Linda (Emerson) Byrd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Sigmon, and a sister, Barbara Phelps.
