Ruth Ilene Patton, 89, of Danville, passed away at 3:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Colonial Manor with family by her side.
Ruth was born on Sept. 9, 1924, in Danville, the daughter of Ralph and Ercel (Watson) Dines.
She married Wendell Patton on June 1, 1946, in Fithian. He preceded her in death.
Surviving is one stepson, Ronald (Judy) Patton of Plainfield, Ind.; one brother, Ronald Dines of Danville; four sisters, Beverly Mills of Bismarck, Carolyn Pichon of Bismarck, Linda (Jack) Smith of Danville and Sandra (Larry) Steinbaugh of Alvin; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, Donald Patton; six brothers, John, Ralph, Gerald, Max, Donald and Larry Dines; one sister, Barbra Clapp.
Ruth enjoyed going out to eat with family, reading a good book and cooking for loved ones.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with Pastor William Carpenter officiating. A visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood, Ind., at a later date.
The family of Ruth asks memorials be made to the American Heart Association in her name.
