BASIN, Wyo. — Marjorie J. (Pate) Nichols, 81, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her son’s home in Basin, Wyo., following a short battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by loving family members.
Marjorie was born on Jan. 25, 1932, in Tilton to George W. and Catherine R. Pate.
She was in the first graduating class of Schlarman High School in 1949.
She married Charles B. Nichols on Feb. 7, 1953, at St. Patrick’s Church in Danville.
She and her husband owned and operated the Triangle C Ranch in Dubois, Wyo., until 1966. They moved to Laramie, Wyo., where she worked in the food service department at the University of Wyoming while her husband pursued a degree in accounting. They then moved to Cody, Wyo., where she worked as a florist. They moved their family to Riverton, Wyo., and in the following years she worked in her husband’s accounting firm, The Place, New York Life, and was a longtime employee at the Fremont County Alcohol Crisis Center until she retired in 2012.
Majorie is survived by three sons, Robin B. (Kathleen) Nichols of Basin, Wyo., Jeffery C. Nichols of Riverton, Wyo., and David C. (Renay) Nichols of Riverton, Wyo.; four sisters, Patty Holman of Casper, Wyo., Bobbie (Bill) Ward of Danville, Kathy (Art) Newman of Riverton, Wyo., and Mary Jo (Michael) Pogliano of Denver, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Pate of Yuma, Ariz.; also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Larry M. Pate.
Per Marjorie’s request, she will be cremated,with a family service to be held at a later date.
