Wilma Mae (Dixon) Gilbert

---- — ST. JOSEPH — Wilma Mae (Dixon) Gilbert, age 98, of St. Joseph, and formerly of Scottland, Ill., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Heartland Manor Care in Champaign.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1915, in Prairie Township to Ed Norris and Ethel Lucile (Peer) Dixon.

On March 21, 1936, she married William Kenneth Gilbert at Chrisman United Methodist Church.

Wilma lived in the Chrisman area for the majority of her life. She also lived in Washington, D.C., for about 20 years. She was a member of the Friends Chapel Church in Scottland, Home Extension and a bowling league. She dearly loved playing the piano, driving her car and working in the yard.

Wilma is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Stephen) Via, of Chrisman, Cynthia (Terry) Reid, of St. Joseph, and Nancy (David) Cordes, of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, three sisters and one daughter, Roberta Gilbert.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Krabel Funeral Home in Chrisman. Burial will follow in Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland.
