PERRYSVILLE, Ind. — Earl R. Holycross, 100, formerly of Perrysville, and a resident of The Waters of Covington in Covington, Ind., passed away at 9:10 a.m. EST Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at The Waters of Covington.
Earl was born July 18, 1913, in Perrysville, Ind., the son of the late Mantford and Mary Mammie Moudy Holycross.
He married Fern Gilmore on Jan. 29, 1949, in Danville, Ill. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie (Joe) Davan of Covington, Ind., Darlene Holycross of Perrysville, Ind., and Diana (Fred) Kurz of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Denny (Kim) Holycross of Sullivan, Ind., and Scott Holycross of Perrysville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Stoup of Covington, Ind., and Mary Mildred Fishers of Indianapolis.
Earl was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Earl was a retired farmer. He was a member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, west of Covington, and also attended Union Corner Church in Danville. He enjoyed playing checkers, bingo, going coon hunting and bowling.
Funeral services: 3 p.m. EST Saturday, March 1, at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. Officiating: the Rev. Brenda Burnsworth; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Ind. Visitation: 1:30 p.m. EST until time of services Saturday, March 1, at the church.
