URBANA — Jack D. White, 82, of Urbana, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 9, 1931, in Chicago, the son of Ed and Mary Kate (Frazier) White.
He married JoEllyn Perry on Jan. 22, 1954, in Marshall, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include his two sons, Stanton (Jacquie) White of Champaign and Samuel F. White of Crystal Lake; one sister, Marilyn Lynch of Fairmount; and five grandchildren, Hailey (Judd) Gould of Bloomington, Zachary K. White of Crystal Lake, Casey White of Champaign, Jacob F. White of Crystal Lake and Ellen V. White of Crystal Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred White.
Jack formerly worked at Chanute Air Force Base, Viking Plumbing in Danville and GHR Engineering in Champaign. He was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed watching the University of Illinois basketball. He also was known for announcing local high school events. Jack was very proud that he “successfully avoided joining any organizations.”
As per Jack’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
