---- — GEORGETOWN — Ruth Weidenburner, 90, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:27 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at her home in Georgetown.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Pape Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery.
Ruth was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Danville to Sherman and Ruth (Dare) Ross.
She attended McMillan Grade School and Danville High School. Ruth was a transporter during World War II for the Air Force, transporting bombs to Chanute Airport Base. She also worked for the Commercial-News from 1978-1986 doing several jobs such as cleaning and maintenance.
Ruth enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, and spending time with her family and her best friend, Bessie. Her wish in life was to race in the Indianapolis 500.
Ruth married Eugene Weidenburner in 1950, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1983.
She leaves behind her three children, Rebecca Livingston, Margaret (Michael) Mullins and Gary Weidenburner; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; an infant sister; and two brothers, Sherman Ross and Calvin Ross.
Ruth’s daughters, Rebecca and Margaret, have been by Ruth’s side continuously for the past 10 years, and she will be greatly missed by them all. Memories and messages for the family may be left at www.papemortuary.com or on the Pape Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
