SALESVILLE, Ark. — A graveside service for Katherine “Kitty” Louise Elliott of Salesville, Ark., will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery.
Kitty passed away Feb. 11, 2014, in Gassville, Ark., at the age of 92.
She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of Thomas and Jessica Newdecker Griffin.
She married Donald Elliott on Oct. 20, 1946, at Danville, Ill.
Kitty and Don owned and operated Sunaco Travel Mart near Oakwood. Kitty lived in Salesville, Ark., since moving from Oakwood in 1978. She was an active member of the UAW and Democrat Club. She enjoyed making jewelry, painting, fishing and traveling.
Kitty is survived by her son, Phil (Alice) Elliott of Acapulco; daughter, Glenda (Bob) Layden of Hoopeston; four grandchildren, Glenn Vines and Gregg, Cheri and Steve Elliott; five great-grandchildren, Carly Vines and Steve, Michael, Austin and Brandon Elliott; two brothers, Thomas and Joe Griffin; and a sister, Vivian Griffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Pat and William; and three sisters, Frances, Ellen and Claire.
Burial will be in the Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Ark.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of choice.
