TERRE HAUTE, Ind. —
John Teddy Pernell Gregory Jr., 26, of Terre Haute, Ind., formerly of Danville, Ill., was called home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2013, at the IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born April 27, 1986, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Dorothy M. (Gregory) Johnson and John Teddy Pernell Gregory Sr.
He attended East Park Elementary, Garfield Elementary, North Ridge Middle School and Danville High School, all in Danville.
“Jon Jon” leaves to cherish his memories his parents; one son, Jaiden TyJhon Gregory; two daughters, Aryonna Marie and Jai’mone Dekay Gregory; four sisters, Shannon Cooper-Gregory of Washington, D.C., Matrika Redd (James) of Terre Haute, Ind., Shanqoa’ia Gregory of Urbana, Alexus Gregory of Danville; one godsister, Daikierra Dandridge of Danville; four brothers, James Goldston, Jashaun Redd (Ethel) of Danville, Tyran Gregory and Jamariahn Gregory of Terre Haute, Ind.; one great-aunt, Bessie Brown of Columbus, Ga.; one great-uncle, Boysie Wynn (Matte) of North Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.
Jon Jon had a love for basketball. He loved being a father to his children, a brother to his sisters and brothers and an uncle to his nieces and nephews. He had a gentle spirit and loved everyone he came in contact with. His family was precious to him. He enjoyed spending time with friends. He never met a stranger.
Jon Jon was known for his dancing, joking and for dressing “fresh” all the time with his fitted caps and tennis shoes. Jon Jon’s favorite color was red, and he was always wearing a smile. If anyone ever needed anything he would give his last. He enjoyed traveling to different places and enjoyed every moment of his life.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russell P. Gregory, Lucy Belle Simms, Willa Mae Rice and Allan J. Cohen Jr.; and one special uncle, Donald P. Gresham.
A celebration of life will commence at noon Friday, April 26, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Rickey E. Parks, pastor of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Champaign. Interment: Sanhill Memorial Park. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
