Norman L. Walla
Norman L. Walla, of Danville passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at his residence.
Norman was born the youngest of 12 on Feb. 6, 1931, in Bee, Neb., son of Frank and Katherine Maxiner Walla. He married Virginia James on Oct. 9, 1951. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include three children: Ann (Marshall) Wells of Danville, Ilene (Jim) Shank of Terre Haute, Ind., and Norm (Sue) Walla of Danville; brother: Dennis “Dutch” Walla of Colorado; sister: Wilma (Chuck) Banacheck of Colorado; grandchildren: Curtis (Nikki) Wells, Sara (Chad) Barrett, Rene’ (Brian) Bourdeau, Dana (Scott) Stella, Tyler (Jana) Shank, Kara (J.P.) James and Troy Shank; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Ramona (Richard) Scott, and nine siblings.
Norman served the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later worked as a machinist. He worked many years for Dines Machine Shop in Danville, retiring in the late 1990s. He enjoyed photography, Nebraska Cornhusker football, exotic birds, and traveling to attend festivals.
Per his and his family’s wishes, he will be cremated at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with a private family service. Memorials may be made to the CRIS Senior Center in Danville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
