Lois Amos

Lois Amos, 88, of Danville passed away Nov. 5, 2009, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.

Lois was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Tilton, the daughter of Elza and Ruby McIntosh Barrett. She married Charles Amos on Nov. 23, 1939. He preceded her on Feb. 6, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Ann (Tom) Collins of Riverton and Charlene “Sue” (Larry) Warner of Danville; two sisters, Wanda Berry of Danville and Peggy (Gerald) Baldwin of Stateline, Ill.; five grandchildren, Brian (Pam) Warner, Cathy Warner, Amy Warner all of Danville, and Cindy Collins of Florida and Michael Collins of Chicago; six great-grandchildren, Charlie, Amber, Ashley, Katelynn, Brian Scott, and Erik; numerous nieces and nephews; life-long friend and partner in crime, Wilma Brown; and special friend, Bob. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a brother.

Lois attended Tilton schools and had worked as a service manager for Eisner’s for 32 years.

She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Danville for a number of years.

After retirement in the late 1980s, she stayed active mentoring children at Big Brothers Big Sisters, working at Dairy Queen, CRIS Senior Services and being an election judge. Lois was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed dancing, country music, playing euchre, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, bowling with her sisters and traveling with her late husband, Charlie.

A Celebration of Lois’s Life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Danville.
